JET LAG MYTHS VS. CIRCADIAN SCIENCE
Jet lag cannot be fixed with generic sleep advice, exercise, hydration, dietary supplements, special diets or fasting. None of these reset your circadian clock quickly to a new time zone.

Light is the key time cue that resets your circadian clock. Individually-timed light exposure and light avoidance - based on your chronotype, your normal sleep pattern and your itinerary - is the only way to adjust to a new time zone quickly. Get the timing wrong and jet lag gets worse.

Getting that timing right is complex and unintuitive, which is why generic advice fails. Timeshifter works as your jet lag calculator and planner, doing that timing for you.

WHY WE MADE TIMESHIFTER
We built Timeshifter to make circadian science accessible and help you apply it to reduce jet lag. It targets the underlying cause of jet lag - the disruption of your circadian clock - and reduces the symptoms that come with it, including insomnia, daytime sleepiness, fatigue and digestive discomfort.

Timeshifter was developed with Dr. Steven W. Lockley, a Harvard Medical School faculty member for over 20 years and former neuroscientist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is an international authority on circadian rhythms and sleep, with more than 30 years of clinical research experience in humans, and works with NASA astronauts and mission controllers, F1 teams, NBA players, national soccer teams and Olympic athletes.

Whether you are crossing one time zone or ten, on a long-haul flight or a quick turnaround, Timeshifter gives you a jet lag plan built for that trip.

Download Timeshifter and make jet lag history on your next flight.

I used this for a 14 hour trip and followed it religiously. I had no jet lag upon arrival, although I was a little sleep deprived because I can never sleep on flights. The app recommended that I close my eyes, put on ear plugs, and try to relax as much as possible if I could not fall asleep. This is what I did. On the way back our trip was shorter because we were flying from another country. I deviated from Timeshifter's recommendations but applied what I could. Jet lag was minimal.

I have only used this for one trip using the free trial so I cannot give any review as to whether or not it is worth being a paid feature. With a 12 hour time shift I experienced very little jet lag (although I am younger so I had a leg up) and was able to be productive and useful as soon as I landed both times. The single biggest help I had was that as soon as I left for travel, I started thinking in terms of what time it was in my destination city.

I kind of followed the recommendations (wearing sunglasses from 7-10am was challenging, but I tried to keep my environment dark) but I really wasn't jetlagged at all upon arriving in Japan from the US. Then I didn't follow the recommendations at all coming home (mostly because I didn't see the push notifications because... chaos) and ended up SUPER jetlagged. I don't travel long distances frequently, but if I did, I think this app would be worth paying for. I appreciated the free version.
